Ups and Downs

5th August 2012
As always the August heat is overwhelming and makes it impossible to do any work in the garden.  We have a huge amount of tomatoes which we plan to give to friends.  The hot peppers we have grown will be dried and at the moment are hanging in the sunshine.  We have a large amount of apples this year and the figs are beginning to ripen.  Horror of horrors we have a rats nest in the ivy which grows near to the house.
During the past few weeks we have had ups and downs.  I visited England to celebrate my 60th and had an exhausting but good time. I was very surprised how kind people were on the tubes in London. I had numerous offers with people offering me their seats and to carry my bags. Big surprise!
Since returning we have received an offer for our little casita and hopefully it will be sold by September.  Although we have lost a huge amount of money we are lucky that someone wants to buy it as the situation in Spain at the moment is dire.  On the down side we received notification that I have received a large fine due to my stepson riding a motorbike without insurance. Unfortunately the bike was registered in my name so I am responsible.  Step son is now in the UK and not responding to emails and telephone calls. When I received the notification my first thoughts were to run away back to the UK. I have now calmed down but still wonder whether I should go back.  Life here is good but at times I feel that I am not in control of my life particularly in terms of the laws etc. Well we shall see and maybe I will visit the UK in the New Year and investigate what benefits I can receive if I do return.
Also this is my second day of not smoking. I’m not finding it too difficult but the patches keep coming off due to the heat.
Well that’s it for now……………….but before I go please like my Facebook link before you go.
Many thanks

30th June 2012

30th June
We have been in Spain 8 years this month, how time flies. Not sure that I will ever get used to this hot weather and thank God for air conditioning. This morning got up at 9am after sleeping on the sofa in the hope that the sitting room is cooler than the bedroom. Tried to clear up some of the mess made by my hubs when swept the leaves and cut the ivy but only managed 10 minutes due to being blinded by sweat. Why do men like to cut things down but never tidy up afterwards?
I'm really looking forward to going to England in July to celebrate my 60th and hope that the weather will be cooler.
The garden is growing rapidly and my tomatoes and peppers are beginning to colour. I've also taken cutting from the lavender plant and privot in the hope that I can  replace the ones that died. I'm going to to try and take cutting from the roses because we have managed to kill a few of those as well. I suppose I must go and feed the chickens but dont cherish the thought of being covered in ants which seem to have invaded the chicken run.
Thought for the day. God must have felt in a bad mood when he created ants!

Take care and before you go please like my Facebook link below it won't take a sec.
