Good morning everyone.
Firstly a quick update sadly my no smoking effort is not going well. I have had a relapse. I know my problem is that I think to my one wont hurt but is does and before I know it my addiction has grabbed hold of me again. Oh well today is another day.
I woke early this morning and the skies are once again beautiful My plans for the day are to tackle the large pile of tree cuttings and garden rubbish that is sitting at the end of the garden. Rather than having  large fire as Colin suggests I would rather cut the branches to smaller pieces and see what I can salvage for the compost. So later I will be off with the chain saw and shredder to reduce our ever growing pile.
At the moment the weather in Spain is very pleasant. During the day the sun is shining but its not too hot. Its wonderful to see the trees blooming and little shoots emerging from the soil. as always the slug and snails are enjoying a munch on the shoots so I need to try and deter them. I use slug traps that I bought from Wikaniko
http://www.wikaniko.com/shop/slug-traps.html I have placed several in the  ground and fill them with beer. Slugs and snail love yeast and the enter the trap and get very drunk and leave this world happy. I also scatter crushed egg shells around the plants. Slugs and snails don't like moving over sharp surfaces. As a last resort I go out late at night with a torch, find the little buggers and dispose of them. this however is my least preferred option.
This year I have weeded the two veg plots and planted lots of veg's. As always I have planted more than we can eat but we tend to share our produce with friends. Hopefully my cabbages will do well. The chickens love cabbage which I hang from a string so that they can strengthen their little legs by jumping up to eat. I've noticed that the mulberry tree is beginning to develop fruit. The birds love blue berries as do the chickens but as a consequence that chicken run and paths are stained with purple poo!
Well I think that's it for this morning, I shall have my breakfast feed the dogs and head off with my chain saw/
Have a lovely day.
take care Pat
